Perhaps, the thing that you want is already on your reach or maybe it needs some additional step to reach it. But somehow, you are not getting there and you are asking why you can’t get it. Maybe you are already content of being idle , maybe what you want is scary, or maybe others told you that you couldn’t achieve it. But whatever it is, there is a tag price on that thing that you have to pay whether by your time or money.

In this article, I’m not writing that deep about something grand like how to be rich or how to achieve success on whatever definition you set that on, but more on simple step that I believe we all can work through that.

That is “How do you ask your question ?” . If you have good question, you are almost grasping the answer that you want. In other words, your question is your answer — that sounds counter-intuitive, isn’t it ? — How could the thing that we are supposed to answer is the answer itself ?

Why you’re not getting what you want

If you are talking about school exam that requires you to answer the question given — of course, your question cannot be your answer. But what will you do when you are already done with your school and enter the real world because there is no one to give you question with ?

Be with me for a while in this story and maybe it could help you to walk in this unpredictable year.

Most answers already available out there

Yeah you guess it — Google already provide most answer for all of us. There are a ton of information to access there when you connect to internet nowadays. You could even ask and connect with the expert you deem have capability to help you solve the question. If you let students out there connect to the internet on exam, there’s a chance they could answer the question better than evaluator do. But it is no fun, isn’t it ? — It depends on what we need the student achieve by giving them these question

After school days over, there you are with no one giving you question anymore and there you have abundant information which you can seek for on internet. Do you notice how steep the differences between the number of questions you asked when you were a kid and as you are now ?. In this case, most of us notice the huge number difference between them.

We are not taught to appreciate the question asked more than the answer itself in our school days. Maybe in some culture, asking question makes us look dumb compared to others. As far as i know, there is no tools to provide questions yet — It is still in our control to decide what kind of question to ask with to help us going through hardships

Sure, How do you know the question is good enough for you ?

At simple terms, no one knows how good enough is enough besides you. Question and predictable answer like “How is your day?” — “I’m fine thank you” still count as question. Most of us don’t even think how to answer this because this is what you usually heard on daily conversation. Questions like these is just like the tip of an iceberg and the impact is not quite noticeable.

There are questions that would require you to take some time to think about or rather seek other explanation because we don’t know it yet like “How does this plant grow in some place and not in other place ?”, “What could you do to solve this issue?”, etc. They require some level of analytical thinking or maybe additional questions before reaching good answer. These type of question is like the iceberg part below the surface which could bring bigger impact than template question do.

Question that spurs your heart enough to take an action or that makes you inquire the right answer might be the one. Even some question that make yourself feels shame and reluctant to accept it might be the right answer you seek because you know that you have to let it go and there is a time we are in this personality-crisis age — It’s like slicing the layered onion.

Making good question pushes our brain to think further, thus enhance our creativity. It could expand our network towards the answer because one human is given such a limitation so that they have to collaborate with others.

Try it

Take a little baby step at least to ask yourself or your kid “What great question you ask today ?” daily to help this habit kicks in into your brain. Great things come with patience and consistency. It is okay if you miss a day or two, but would you like to push yourself to do some work on that ?

Many great team or person out there build up something with asking others or themselves a great question first. Good question makes a whole ambient become more productive and in the long run it helps us to achieve the answer that we seek. This habit likely could help us to know ourselves and how we view the situation better so it could serves as our defense against the hardships in the long run.

Conclusion

There is a higher chance that answer to hardships we are going through is already available there. Be humble, curious, and open-minded to whatever answer comes to you is a tough job, but how to ask the right question is tougher. It is tough but it is not impossible if you keep doing the little baby step daily.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” — Matthew 7:7

Whether you do good or bad things, you need this struggle. If you want to be good, you have to learn and there you got good problem. Otherwise, you know nothing and there you got bad problem.

Be conscious of your action, choose what kind of struggle you want, and control your limited time. Let me know if some of it helps on your daily life through comment or you could drop me a message.
